Most of you, (illiterate Glenonions aside) will be aware that the American author, John Steinbeck’s ancestor’s hailed from County Derry, or as it was known at the time, ‘The’ County Derry.

Steinbeck’s works rank amongst the greatest of American literature but did you know that arguably his finest novel was written about Drumoolish?


Seems obvious now, doesn’t it?

  1. Have to hand it to you there is an undeniable logic in your argument; can’t understand though why Sticklebeck missed the obvious title, ‘West of Upper Ballymcpeake.’ Would have been a real Pearl.
