Portglenone Forest is classed as an ‘ancient woodland’.
All its trees were planted in the 1960s.
It has a Bluebell Wood even though bluebells are not even made of wood.
Weirdly, it also has a decoy wood which is actually real and is actually made of wood.
It used to have a red squirrel trail but no red squirrels. This trail was removed with the recent reintroduction of red squirrels.
